Quilt Expo offers education, shopping and hundreds of quilts on exhibit
The sixth-annual Quilt Expo, presented by Wisconsin Public Television and Nancy Zieman Productions, offers an exciting getaway for quilting enthusiasts to rejuvenate their creative muse and celebrate the art of quilting. The event provides educational opportunities for quilters but also draws non-quilters who enjoy viewing the hundreds of quilts on exhibit.Attendees will enjoy shopping the 75,000-square-foot vendor mall and seeing wares from more than 150 regional and national companies with all the latest in fabrics, patterns, notions, sewing machines, longarm quilting systems and more. One-hour lectures are a chance for quilters to acquire new ideas and helpful tips from leading quilting educators. At Sit & Sew workshops attendees learn, practice and master new techniques on state-of-the-art sewing machines. Hands-on workshops teach hand stitching and design methods. Throughout the event, stage presentations by industry leaders feature innovative products and techniques.
Additional highlights include appearances by Nancy Zieman of public television’s Sewing With Nancy, a “Go Red for Women” community service project and two limited-capacity evening events.
On Thursday, “Viewed With a Smile-Humorous Quilts” is an evening of laughter and inspiration with Mary Stori who believes quilting is supposed to be fun and mistakes are just an opportunity to make an ordinary quilt extraordinary.
On Friday, “Folded Fabric Elegance and Quilted Elegance” with Rami Kim focuses on 3-D textures and elegant designs showcasing her creations--quilts, bags, wearable arts and home décor items.
